Cheque and Credit Clearing Company (C&CCC)
About the scheme:
The Cheque and Credit Clearing Company Limited (C&CCC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the new home for UK retail payments, Pay.UK. The C&CCC managed the cheque and credit clearing system in England and Wales from 1985 and in Scotland from 1996. As well as clearing cheques, the system processes bankers’ drafts, building society cheques, postal orders, warrants, government payable orders and travellers’ cheques.
C&CCC also manages the systems for the clearing of paper bank giro credits (known as credit clearing), euro cheques (euro clearing) and US dollar cheques (the currency clearing for US dollar cheques drawn on GB banks).
Since its launch in October 2017 the company also managed the Image Clearing System (ICS), which enables digital images of cheques to be exchanged between banks and building societies across the whole of the UK for clearing and settlement. For more information on ICS please refer to the website.
C&CCC provides a range of professional services to members including: operational management, technical advice, project management, risk and compliance management, and secretariat and regulatory consultation.
